A significant proportion of our community is affected by immigration justice issues.
Olmsted County is home to roughly 16,000 persons of foreign birth. Half are naturalized citizens;; the other half are not citizens. Of the latter, 2,800 may be undocumented. Roughly 1,500 citizens are children, one or both of whose parents are not documented.
Southeastern Minnesota is home to 25,000 foreign born residents, of whom 13,500 are not citizens and 5,800 may be undocumented. 3,100 children are citizens, with one or both parents undocumented.
